商务英语作为专门用途英语，具有与普通英语不同的特点，在使用上有其显著特色，主要表现在文体、语言和文化意识方面。商务英语文体讲求逻辑的清晰和条理性、思维的准确严密以及结构的严谨。在对学生和老师进行调研的基础上，我们选择了10个高职高专学生喜闻乐见的商务主题，使学生在学习语言的同时，了解商务英语，提高语言基本技能培养，拓宽商务视野。
本书所有语料均选自英语国家书籍、报刊杂志、广播电视和网络，以确保语言的原汁原味、生动逼真以及内容的丰富多彩，使商务英语学习者既意识到跨文化交流中商务特点、思维方式的不同，又能在不同的文化体系中看到共通的方面，求同存异。
积极向上的选材，激活学生已有知识信息，为商务知识、技能的导入和专业学习做好坚实的铺垫，并在潜移默化中培养学生形成正确的人生观、价值观。商务英语句子结构通常较为复杂，商务术语较多，在保证选材生动地道的基础上，为适应高职高专学生特点，对较难的地方加以注释，既拓展学生词汇量，又方便学生理解。
